Why should there be any sadness if you take his happiness as such an important thing to ya? He's happy, so you should be happy.

Regret? Shame? No! Why? What for? You have tried your best out there, and even cross the line to give what you can offer. You have done anything that you can do for earning his love and soul. What should be feeling sorry and regret for?
